Termites love Dallas!
With a hot, humid climate and an abundance of homes made of wood there are tons of places for them to infest!
Here are a few facts about termites:
- Termites reproduce at a very quick rate, in many species the queen lays about 2,000 eggs a day.
- Termites are born with wings and fly in swarms until they find a new home to infest. Once a house has been infested by termites, it will become a re-acurring problem until it is taken care of properly.
- Termites build tunnels that are designed to maintain the perfect airflow and include special chambers for food, mating, and the queen.
- To maintain their privacy, termites cover up holes in the walls using a mud like substance made from wood chips saliva and droppings.
- Termites look much like ants and are related. The few differences between termites and ants include: length of wings (termites are equal, ants are different), Antennae of a termite is straight where ants are bent, and the abdomen of an ant is small and round where the termite is straight.
